PublicOffice.ng is a Nigerian civic technology project building a searchable, evidence-backed record of elected and appointed public officials at federal, state and local level. It is for citizens, journalists, researchers and civil society — and for anyone who wants to check the record before they vote.

What we are not

We are not a political party, a campaign, a news blog or a social network. We do not endorse or oppose any candidate, and we apply the same standards to every official regardless of party.

Editorial independence

Officials cannot pay to change, remove or delay accurate, sourced information about them.
If we ever offer paid tools to officials (for example, managing a contact profile), they will have no influence over the independent record.
A verified account confirms who someone is — not that their claims about their record are true.
Our editors' individual identities are not shown on record pages, to protect them from pressure.
