Corrections and disputes

We aim to be accurate, and we correct mistakes openly. Anyone may ask us to correct a page — a member of the public, a journalist, or the official concerned. Every request is treated the same way, regardless of who sends it, and no payment or relationship changes the outcome.

What happens to a request

  1. You receive a reference code. Your contact details are never published.
  2. An editor triages the request. If it raises a credible question, the page is marked under dispute review while we investigate. Unreviewed requests do not change the page.
  3. We check the request against primary sources and the evidence you provide.
  4. The outcome is one of: a correction, a clarification or update, a retraction, or no change. Corrections, clarifications and retractions are published on the page with the date.

What we never do

  • Silently edit published information. Every change after publication appears in the page history.
  • Delete a published record to hide it. Retracted entries stay online with their retraction notice.
  • Remove accurate, sourced information because an official dislikes it or offers payment.
